The Client
Princess Cruises is one of the most recognized names in global cruise travel — a brand built on the quality of its people as much as the quality of its ships. With teams spanning vessels, offices, and regions around the world, their workforce is the backbone of the guest experience. Every crew member, every customer-facing team, and every executive leadership layer contributes to a standard that millions of guests measure their expectations against.
To support that workforce at scale, Princess Cruises needed a modern, comprehensive learning and development system — one that could serve HR onboarding, safety and compliance, sales and marketing enablement, and executive leadership development simultaneously, without sacrificing consistency, accessibility, or engagement across any of them.
They partnered with COURSE to build it.
The Challenge
Training a distributed workforce across ships, offices, and global locations is one of the most complex L&D challenges an organization can face. Princess Cruises needed to solve it across five distinct areas at once.
Employee onboarding and continuous learning had to scale across roles and regions without varying in quality. Safety and compliance training had to meet rigorous maritime and corporate regulatory standards including STCW, OSHA, and GDPR. Sales and marketing training had to align teams around consistent messaging and customer experience strategy. Executive and leadership development had to build the decision-making, communication, and crisis management capabilities required to lead at the highest level of a global hospitality organization. And every piece of content had to be accessible — ADA and WCAG compliant, multi-language capable, and deliverable to both onboard and remote teams.
They didn't just need videos. They needed a complete learning and development infrastructure built to grow with the organization.
What We Built Together
COURSE delivered an end-to-end L&D solution across video production, interactive course development, leadership training, sales enablement, and global accessibility — treating every workstream as part of one integrated system.
Custom training video production covered HR, safety, and compliance across the full scope of Princess Cruises' regulatory requirements. Scenario-based videos simulated real situations employees face on the job. Safety and compliance modules were built to maritime and corporate standards. All content was delivered in LMS-ready formats for on-demand, self-paced access across ships and offices — replacing static documents with visual, repeatable learning experiences.
Interactive course development extended the L&D system beyond video. We built microlearning modules for faster comprehension, gamified learning experiences with quizzes, scenario-based challenges, and progress tracking, and multi-language localized content for global teams. Every course was SCORM and xAPI-compatible for seamless LMS integration and reporting — making training easier to manage at the organizational level and easier for employees to complete on their own schedule.
Executive and leadership development built a separate but connected layer for senior teams. Strategic communication, people leadership, crisis management simulations, and performance coaching pathways gave Princess Cruises leaders the tools to make better decisions, manage teams more effectively, and respond under pressure with confidence rather than reaction.
Sales and marketing enablement gave customer-facing teams consistent training around the guest experience, objection handling, brand storytelling, and public relations — ensuring every team stayed aligned with the messaging and strategy the brand required.
Accessibility and global compliance ran through every deliverable. Closed captions, subtitles, audio descriptions, interactive transcripts, screen-reader compatibility, and mobile-optimized delivery made every piece of content inclusive, searchable, and genuinely usable by a globally diverse workforce.
The Results
Training completion rates increased by 30% — a direct result of replacing static content with engaging, scenario-based video and interactive course design that employees actually wanted to complete.
Employee engagement and retention improved through learning experiences that felt relevant and personal rather than mandatory and forgettable. Sales performance strengthened as teams moved through consistent enablement training. Compliance alignment with STCW, OSHA, ADA, and maritime safety standards was achieved across the full organization. Leadership programs delivered measurable improvements in operational efficiency and decision-making quality.
Most importantly, Princess Cruises ended the engagement with a scalable training infrastructure — a system that could be updated, expanded, and deployed globally as the organization continued to grow without rebuilding from the ground up each time.
Training became a strategic advantage. Not a bottleneck.
What's Possible
Princess Cruises needed a complete L&D system that could train a global workforce across every department and discipline — at the standard their brand required. COURSE built it end to end: video production, interactive courses, leadership development, sales enablement, and ADA-compliant accessibility for every learner in every location.
If your organization needs a training system that can scale with you without losing quality at the edges, this is what that looks like at the highest level.
